AVOID this office at all costs. One of the worst medical office visits in recent memory, and that’s saying a lot for South Florida. I brought my mother here for a post-surgical followup and we waited for two hours to get five minutes with the doctor. The staff never even had the courtesy to let us know that there might be a delay. When we asked how long it might be we were told very sternly by a surly tech “I don’t know.” That same surly tech grabbed my mother’s head and forced it back to put drops in her eye without even explaining what the drops were. The tech could have communicated with my mother like a normal human being instead of pushing her around—especially because she has nerve damage throughout her neck. When they finally shuffled us into a third waiting area, an exam room, they kept the door closed. In an effort to make sure they were aware we were still waiting, I kept opening the door, and the rude tech kept closing it. So, if you decide to visit this office then be prepared to wait for hours in several different waiting areas, and then in an exam room, and then only get five minutes with the doctor after you’ve been thoroughly disrespected and physically mistreated by a tech who really has no business working in a role that involves putting her hands on patients. Save yourself the grief and go somewhere else.
I called to make an urgent appt as a new patient due to an eye infection. I spoke to Arlene in the call center who was able to provide me an appt that same day. Upon checking in I had to wait to for about an 1hr and 15mins to be called back by a tech, I didn’t mind considering my circumstances. I honestly forget the name of the lady who did the initial exams however she was friendly and helped move things along. I saw the doctor shortly thereafter, she did a quick exam and told me she would be calling in a prescription antibiotic, generic because the brand name is super costly. I go to the pharmacy 2 hours later and the pharmacy is telling me the cost of the drops are $191 after my insurance coverage, outrageous. I inquire whether the drops are the brand or generic, I’m told the brand name. In order to change to generic the doctor has to approve a change in the strength. The pharmacy calls close to 5 but not yet 5pm, they are placed on hold for approximately 10 mins and transferred to the answering service. Pharm tech leaves the appropriate information and has to call again after 30mins since no provider calls back. I chalk it up and decide I’ll just wait for the morning. I call the pharmacy (CVS) to see if the drops are ready at 10am but then am informed that the doctors office has yet to call back. I ended up having to call the pharmacy 4x’s and the doctors office 3x’s before a new set of drops were prescribed, not sure why the switch of medication because no one called to inform me why from the doctors office. I have no idea what happened to the generic, if this new medication is more effective or just a quick fix to shut me up. Truly unprofessional, I’m a nurse myself and understand as a patient I have to be proactive however this was a simple adjustment that should’ve been handled as soon as the office opened this morning not 3pm on a Friday after multiple calls.
Lovely, clean office. Friendly staff. Very extensive testing done. Every test explained . The Doctor took time to discuss options for my glaucoma. I highly recommend this office.
Very thorough with eye exam.
