Stewart Title Company

The worst experience in my entire life of dealing with title companies. I could not get anyone to talk to me on questions I had. The person handling the file and closing was a rookie; she didn’t know what she was doing. At closing, no one reviewed the numbers with us and they didn’t get the proper paperwork and held up our wire pending this information. I DO NOT RECOMMEND EVER USING THIS COMPANY.

Not good at public relations. I was sent a letter with no verification of any sort asked to sign and return but no return envelope and not much to go on. Had to spend my time and effort to find out if they were legitimate or some kind of scam. Would suggest they put proof of who they are, also I went to Stewart Title official page and they were not listed at the exact name provided for me in their cryptic letter.

I do not recommend this company. We have closed on numerous properties over the years and this was the worst and most unprofessional. They didn’t do their job running checks until the last minute, literally on the day of closing. They had the HOA check and they found violations after the closing for stupid things like pruning trees. They held the check in breach of contract and we had to threaten them with legal action. They took money out of our closing funds without our consent. They accrued fees for additional checks after closing. Basically their employees were lazy getting ready, tried to scramble, caused further delays and headaches for everyone. Then tried to add additional fees after all fees and closing costs were agreed upon and took the money from our closing funds. Not enough money to justify suing so I figured we would share our experience publicly.
